Growing towards Christ

January 2012 Adult Discipleship and Education Opportunities

Adult EducationSunday Mornings, 9:30-10:30am

New Classes

  • The Power of Forgiveness: January 8 – January 29 in the Grundstrom Room. This four week class will look at these questions: What is forgiveness? Why do we need to forgive? How is forgiveness possible? This class will include teaching by pastors Pete Seiferth and Andy Ross, a brief video, and discussion.
  • Mountaintops and Dark Valleys: a Study in Judges: January 8 – March 4 in the Multipurpose Room. The Book of Judges is the account of Israel's opportunity to live obediently following God in the Promised Land. God's promises for the obedient are tremendous blessings, and the consequences for disobedience are calamitous. This class will be taught by Fred Niegocki, and a participants should bring their own study Bible.

Ongoing Classes

  • One Part Serious, Two Parts Fun: Aimed at married couples who are in the "early years" of their life together. Topics include communication and dealing with conflict, as well as general Bible study and other series. This class meets in the Can-Do Room (second floor of the Administration Building).
  • Parlor Study Class: For anyone who would like to dig into a verse-by-verse study of the Bible. This class is taught by Gary Christopherson and Bob Krepps. Class meetings are in the Parlor.
  • The Source: This gathering is for college-agers (post-high school/17-25) and is filled with interactive, high-energy discussion – meeting in the Upper Room (second floor of the Fellowship Hall Building), facilitated by Richard and Marie Ruiz.

Sign up for classes by contacting the Church Office, using a Sunday worship Communication Card, or online through NPC Web Tools! For more information about adult classes or small groups, please contact Pastor Pete Seiferth.

Wednesday Evenings, 6:00-8:00pm
New Wednesday evening classes will be meeting 6:00-8:00pm. Meals are offered for each of these classes (donation suggested) at 6:00pm, and the classes will begin at 6:30pm. Childcare is available for children age three and younger, if needed. Classes will not be held on Ash Wednesday, February 22.

New Classes

  • Alpha: A Practical Introduction to the Christian Faith: January 11 – February 15 in the Grundstrom Room.
  • Living Missionally: January 11 – March 14 in the Upper Room (second floor of the Fellowship Hall Building). This group will study Michael Frost's Exiles: Living Missionally in a Post-Christian Culture and will look at simple everyday ways to communicate the love and power of Jesus Christ in our homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Renee Guth will teach this class, and she has a passion for teaching scripture and helping others connect with God's mission in real, practical ways.
  • Financial Peace University: January 11 – April 11 in the Parlor. The popular curriculum by Christian financial expert, Dave Ramsey, is being offered at NPC! Through video presentations and discussion, participants will learn a new approach to personal budgeting and avoiding debt. There is a $100 fee to cover class materials. FREE PREVIEW! Is this class right for you? The first session is free, and all are invited to attend to find out more about the class, preview materials and ask questions.
