Children's Ministry

Nursery

Children's Ministry 2010-2011 Nursery Handbook (PDF)

Parent Information

Childcare is provided for children birth through 3 years, during all three Sunday worship services (8:00, 9:30 & 11:00am).

The purpose of the Northminster Presbyterian nursery program is to provide quality child care on Sunday mornings and for other special events, enabling families to participate in the life of the church through worship, study, and service areas.

We strive to provide a positive, nurturing environment where children can learn and grow in God's love, and feel at home within the church family.

Our nursery is staffed with paid childcare workers as well as volunteers. The paid staff wears smocks for easy identification. Our staff is carefully trained in order to be able to provide the best possible care for your children. If you have special instructions for your child, please inform a nursery staff member.

Our nursery is located in the Christian Education Building, Room 2. The nursery is staffed from 7:45am-12:15pm each Sunday.

Note: Children are promoted out of the Nursery in August only.

What to Bring for Your Child

Diaper bags MUST BE LABELED WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME. Please provide us with diapers, pacifiers, bottles, and extra clothing per your child's needs. It is always helpful to write down special instructions for your child so the Nursery Attendants can refer to it later. A mid-morning snack is provided for toddlers and preschool children. Please label EVERYTHING!

Please NO glass bottles or containers, perishable foods, or medicine!

Pager System

When you check your child in you will be issued a pager, which will be used to notify you if your child needs you. The system works throughout the church campus and is used for any church events where children are admitted to the nursery.

Signing In Your Child

The Children's Ministry staff takes great care in keeping records of attending children and we would appreciate your help. Please take the time to fill out a Nursery information form for your child. Please sign your child in at time of arrival, printing clearly first and last name and the service or special event you are attending.

Sick Child Policy

For the health and safety of all children, our childcare workers have been instructed not to accept sick children in the nursery for any church events. Our policy for sick children is:

  • A child must be completely free of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, for 24 hours prior to the start of childcare.
  • Children will not be admitted into the nursery for 48 hours after beginning any antibiotic therapy.
  • Spreading of cold germs is a problem in our nursery. Children with fresh colds and/or thick green or yellow nasal discharge will not be accepted in the nursery.

Childcare personnel may refuse admittance to a child that meets the above conditions. If a child should become ill during their stay in the nursery, parents will be contacted and asked to take them home.

Childcare for Special Events

Evening worship and special fellowship events may have childcare provided. Please watch the church bulletin and The Vine and The Branches newsletter for information on these events. Some church events require reservations from the individual families. For times other than Sunday mornings, please let us know of your childcare needs. It is not necessary to make reservations for Sunday morning.

Bible BLAST TOO!

Sunday mornings at 9:30am. Bible BLAST TOO is designed to teach our two-year-olds how to relate to and enjoy things they are familiar with as they learn about God, Jesus, and the church. Children enjoy listening to a story and completing a coloring page.
