Old Pueblo Brass Band in Concert - "All Over the Map"
Sunday, May 3, 4:30pm, Sanctuary
“All Over the Map” features music reflecting a variety of possible tourist destinations appealing to Tucsonans eager to escape our summer heat. In addition to the full band, the program includes several solos: Blue Bells of Scotland with Hunter McClain Swanson, a euphonium major at the U of A; Flowerdale from “Hymn of the Highlands,” by Philip Sparke, featuring Eb cornet soloist, Cory Driscoll, UA grad assistant in the trumpet studio; and DeMelza, featuring UA horn Professor Daniel Katzen on Eb Alto Horn. A short piece, Just for Fun, features the cornet section. The Australasian March by William Rimmer, Hands Across the Sea by John Philip Sousa, Jerusalem by Sir Hubert Parry, selections from the King and I and Four Cities Symphony are also on the program.
The Old Pueblo Brass Band was formed in 1996 under the baton of the late J. Franklin Dow, husband of NPC member and band librarian, Martha Dow.

Vacation Bible School 2015

For children age 4 (by August 31, 2015) through grade 5
SonSpark Labs VBS is a dynamic, imagination-sparking experience where kids discover the answer to God’s Plan 4 You = Jesus! Each day includes cool science experiments, creative craft projects, active group games and step-into-it stories that bring the Bible to life. Add to that the lively new music, comical skits and yummy snacks and you’ve got a terrific week of fun and adventure.
VBS is free to attend! During the week, children will learn about how they can help care for God’s world. They will be encouraged to participate in a recyclable aluminum collection and to vote for their choice of where the proceeds will be donated.
Free English Classes for Adults
Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00-10:30am, Multipurpose Building
Literacy Connects and Literacy Volunteers of Tucson believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to read, write and speak English, and they work with adults in two main areas:
- Adult Basic Literacy
- English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA)
English Language Acquisition for Adults provides free classes for adults who want to speak, write and read in English in order to fully participate in, and contribute to, our community. Classes are being held at Northminster on Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00-10:30am in the Multipurpose Building. All levels of English are welcome!

Got Talent? Passionate About Something? This school year, plan to share your talent/passion with Cragin Elementary students. Share your gift of chess, knitting, dance, yoga, art (painting, clay, etc.), or music (voice, instruments, etc.). Use your imagination, the sky's the limit!
Time commitment: Mondays, 1:45-2:45pm for 8 weeks
